Thanks chaps. I hope they have the range to match the rate of fire (not bothered about accuracy, as they are more for suppression). I'm expecting a bit of "suck back" because of the barrel length but, if that happens, I'll fit a bore up cylinder kit.

Zbear, the barrel change flaps are actually closed. These are not 100% accurate replicas, with a few minor bits of "artistic licence" on them, such as the cocking handles and sight units. Still, BOTH guns, with all of their parts, have cost less than a single shoei or ultima.

Well, I did a quick test a few days ago, which highlighted a few gremlins that needed ironing out. So, I took the guns back home again and tweaked them. Today, I took them for a final shakedown, with fingers crossed for no problems. I'm happy to say that both guns performed really well. The rate of fire and range are good and the drum mags feed fine as well. I've got to shorten the feed tubes before Husky but that's it. That way, the top covers will close properly and, as an added bonus, they should feed faster and the drum mag batteries should last longer as well due to having to not work so hard.
They've turned out better than I dared to hope for to be honest. Can't wait to let rip on the Ami's and Tommies with them.

Bore-up kits give a *minuscule* increase in cylinder volume - simply not worth the expense for the tiny increase in capacity. I run a 650mm 6.04 in my '42, using a Prometheus ventilated piston head, and have had no problems.

Can't wait to set up all of the 42's together and watch the fun! I just hope the allies don't start crying too soon for it to be funny. (especially if it rains as well! )

Just CARRYING one has an effect! With a full mag and a battery, mine weigh as much as a real steel one! Having said that, it's totally worth it. We German players have been seriously lacking in firepower for some time and now, we have it!

Good luck with that and I applaud your optimism and youthful confidence . We've been on the receiving end of the Thompson/hi-cap combination for a while now and still come out on top, so, with the increased firepower of the MG42's, I think we're fully capable of re-writing history. 
I wish I could take orders but the supplier of the replicas is a total knob and I can't rely on him, which is a real shame, as I think I could have sold quite a few.

Just caught up on this Topic. Outstanding job on the Mg42's. They really do look stunning.
Thanks for all of the kind and positive comments. Today, I shortened the feed tubes of both guns and that worked out really well on Dels' gun. Unfortunately, when I did mine, a bit of metal dropped down the main feed pipe, resulting in me having to spend a couple of hours dismantling the drum and rebuilding it from scratch all over again!
To calm and console myself, I found a spare bit of tube and slipped it over the aeg barrel to make it look more realistic. The paint is drying on it as I type. I absolutely cannot wait to try it out at Husky!
